Just like Tom Sawyer, we recruited lots of friends to help paint the outhouse at the church. There were four children painting along with Lloyd, Pastor Gerardo and Apolinar. It didn't take long to finish the job with so many hands and when it was done Miriam served us all a delicious meal. She had prepared a dish called beef steak ranchero which was small pieces of beef cooked with potatoes, onions, peppers and chopped swiss chard. Along with that we had pinto beans and tortillas. Everyone agreed the dinner was a great reward for painting the little building behind the church!
